How do I store my oysters?
Oysters need to be stored in your refrigerator. We recommend covering them with a damp cloth to prevent them from drying out from fridge air. Keep the cloth damp during storage. If your oysters come in a bag we recommend transferring them to a bowl for storage. If your oysters come in a box you can keep them in the box and simply lay the damp cloth directly on top of the oysters. Don’t submerge your oysters in water for storage – they don’t like this at all. Happy storing!
How long will my oysters last?
Prince Edward Island oysters are incredibly hardy and as a result have quite a long shelf life. We usually say they can last up to 2 weeks when stored properly. However, like any seafood, the sooner you enjoy them – the better – both in terms of freshness flavour and food safety.
Can I eat oysters in months that doesn’t end in “R”?
YES! This old adage started when refrigeration didn’t really exist. We’ve come a long way since then so it’s safe to eat oysters any month of the year.
How are my oysters shipped?
We ship all of our oyster orders priority overnight with Fed Ex. We ship Monday to Wednesday to give an extra day in case of delay. We’d hate for your oysters to get trapped in transit over a weekend. Major city centers in Canada can expect next day delivery while outlying areas often take a day longer.
How are my oysters packaged?
We ship all of our oysters with gel ice packs and in insulated Styrofoam boxes. Depending on the quantity of your order your oysters will be packaged in either a box or a bag.
